Rachael has worked in the industry for 20 years. She received her undergrad degree in architecture from Miami University and a masters degree from Cornell University. She began her career working on urban design and architecture projects. For the last 15 years, she has focused on pre-design strategy, corporate, hospitality and residential interiors. Rachael is a registered interior designer in the state of Illinois and a LEED accredited professional.
Rachael’s father taught her how to run at the age of 10, and she was Wisconsin state champion in the 800-meter dash in high school. She ran Division 1 in both track and cross country in undergrad while juggling late nights in the architecture studio. She now prefers yoga, because it is easier on her knees... namaste.
She enjoys travelling with her husband and 2 teenage boys. Most recently, they visited Tokyo to see the cherry blossoms and chow down on ramen.
If I were not an architect, I would be: A chef. I love to cook. I make lasagna every Christmas, and it has over 10 layers of meat and veggies. I also baked over 30 dozen cookies last year!
Favorite cereal: Cinnamon Toast Crunch or Cinnamon Life… I guess I like cinnamon!
Favorite piece of architecture: The Pantheon in Rome. The only natural light within the space shines from the oculus above, and it changes positions throughout the day and year.
