Presbyterian Homes

OKW has served the Presbyterian Homes and their residents for nearly 35 years.  Our role includes that of architect, interior designer, master planner, owner’s representative and trusted advisor.

OKW’s services are stretched across three campuses:

Lake Forest Place - Lake Forest, IL
The Moorings - Arlington Heights, IL
The Presbyterian Homes original campus - Evanston, IL

The work began with a single building, The Kimble Fitness Center on the campus in Evanston.  As the notion of senior housing was evolving from the moniker of “The Old Folk’s Home” to a more modern and appropriate community designed to offer wellness, fellowship and safety, this fitness center stood as an example of this new direction in elder care.   Its success for both the Presbyterian Home and OKW led to opportunities in master planning this new initiative and included new buildings and new campuses addressing multifamily and single family housing, places for worship and gathering, dining rooms to serve the residents and their families and health care components allowing for residents to gracefully age in place.  Most recently, OKW completed a Memory Care facility at Lake Forest Place, to better serve the needs of the residents challenged by dementia and Alzheimer’s.  This new wing at Lake Forest Place allows for residents to live within a secure and protected environment, yet it continues to promote and support the values of community found in all other parts of the development.

Our work includes all facets of planning, design and construction administration for both new and renovated facilities.  We are stewards of the entire process including permitting and licensure with both local municipalities as well as the State of Illinois.  We view ourselves as an extension of the Facilities Department, working in lockstep with the management team at Presbyterian Homes to deliver safe, beautiful and appropriate environments  to the residents of these fine communities.
