After graduating from Illinois Institute of Technology, Melissa moved to Boston where she worked on a wide range of projects specializing in mixed use and multifamily developments. While in Boston, she began teaching at the Boston Architectural College. Her favorite class to teach? Second year undergraduate studio. After several years in Boston, Melissa has returned to Chicago as a registered architect to re-claim her city. Melissa loves the complex puzzle of Architecture; balancing zoning, codes, clients and design in new creative ways. Outside of OKW, Melissa can be found crafting upcycled jewelry (think recycled material library samples), crocheting, painting, sewing, and sometimes knitting. Her crafts occasionally make their way onto Etsy, if they aren’t gifted to friends first!
