New Brewery and Brewpub

Chicago, Illinois

When a new brewery concept was searching for their first location, they fell in love with an existing building in the West Loop neighborhood. At the core of the design concept is the importance of honoring the building’s history as a meat-packing facility and the industrial roots of the neighborhood.

Much of the existing building and façade are maintained, with the exception of a new steel and glass double-volume entry, reminiscent of tall factory facades. This key design component serves as a connection hub of activity, including entry to the restaurant, retail for the brewery and a grand stair up to the second floor tap room, which features unique views directly into the brewery below. Industrial details, exposed raw materials and intricate metalwork imbue the space with an authentic and hand-crafted character.
