Brooklyn Bowl

Chicago, Illinois

Located in the Fulton Market District, this mixed-use complex occupies a full block. The program includes a new three-story performance space and bowling venue that incorporates the preserved façade of an existing timber frame structure.  Once the face of a livestock building that played a central role in the city’s meat-packing history, this facade is being restored to its former glory.

The ground-up construction for Brooklyn Bowl comprises the eastern half of the site.  The new design uses similarly scaled fenestration to complete the street wall without attempting to mimic the historic detailing of the existing buildings. Ground  level storefronts are lightly detailed to relate to the slender cast-iron detailing  of the existing buildings.

OKW’s scope includes core-and-shell work for the developer, Convexity Properties, as well as interior architecture for Brooklyn Bowl.
