Dan has always found pleasure in the intersection of his interests. In music, he enjoys when heavy metal bands add local folk instruments to their power chords. He combines his love of endurance sports with mentorship as a running coach for two different Chicago non-profits. At OKW, he is lucky enough to immerse himself in architecture and communications, assembling and editing the firm’s marketing collateral, proposals, presentations, and social media.
Drawing on his multicultural upbringing, he translates the lofty and esoteric world of architecture and design to a more universal, palatable language. When he’s not at the office, Dan is likely on the running path, in a museum with his wife and son, or visiting his family in Costa Rica.
If you weren’t a marketer, what would you be? A statistician? I love statistics to a strange extent. I track every individual mile I run, every song I listen to, and meticulously document my life in photos and on paper. There’s something about seeing measurable change that fascinates me.
What would be a cool superpower? I would like a comfortable room in my house where time stands still. That way I could write a novel, compose an album, and read a fantasy trilogy without having to ignore my friends and family for a month. Would that technically be my home’s superpower?
If you could eat one meal for the rest of your life: Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. It’s the full nutritional package: carbs, protein, and fat. I ran 50 miles on them once, so I’m pretty sure they could sustain me through first world life expectancy.
